Product Guide
Choosing the right dance shoe size and heel height is essential for comfort, balance, and performance. This guide will help you measure your foot accurately and select the best fit for your Portdance women’s dance shoes.
How to Measure Your Foot Accurately
For the most accurate result, measure your foot at the end of the day, when your feet are naturally slightly expanded. We recommend measuring both feet and using the longer measurement as your reference.
- Place a sheet of paper on the floor against a wall.
- Stand on the paper with your heel touching the wall and your full weight on the foot you are measuring.
- Use a pencil to mark the tip of your longest toe.
- Measure the distance from the edge of the paper, where your heel was placed, to the line you marked.
- Use the measurement in centimeters and compare it with the size chart below.
Tip: For dance shoes, fit should feel secure and supportive without painful pressure. If you are between sizes, your ideal choice may depend on foot width, shoe model, and preferred fit.

Women’s Heel Height Guide
Portdance women’s dance shoes are available in several heel shapes and heights. The right heel depends on your dance style, level, balance, and personal preference.
Lower heels offer more stability and are often preferred for beginners, long social dancing sessions, or dancers who want extra control. Higher heels create a more elongated leg line and are commonly chosen for Latin performance, Salsa, Bachata, and competition styling.
Heel height is usually measured in millimeters. For example, 50 mm is approximately 5 cm, 70 mm is approximately 7 cm, and 85 mm is approximately 8.5 cm.

Fit Advice for Women’s Dance Shoes
- Latin shoes: should feel secure and close to the foot, especially around the ball of the foot and straps.
- Ballroom shoes: should offer comfort, stability, and enough support for smooth movement and frame control.
- Social dance shoes: should balance comfort and support for longer wear.
- If you have wide feet: consider sizing up half a size or choosing models known for a softer, more adjustable fit.
If you are unsure between two sizes, contact us with your foot length in centimeters and the model you are interested in. We will be happy to guide you toward the most suitable fit.
